I started working on this way back in July, when I was at Anime Expo. I found out that Peter S. Beagle (The Last Unicorn author) was in attendance, so I went and hunted down his booth so I could get a copy of the new graphic novel that had just come out. I had missed the opportunity to buy it at a previous con, so I was excited that I not only got a copy, but I got to meet the author, too!
Anyway, it put me in the mood for sketching unicorns. ^^ I can't help but feel like she looks totally 80's, but I guess it's to be expected since my earliest memories of unicorns were from that time (ala Last Unicorn and Rainbow Bright).
And....she's with seabirds, because we went to the beach when we were in California for AX, too. The ocean is so pretty on the West Coast- even more so at dawn or dusk!
Gorgeous! You're so lucky to have met him! I would've love the opportunity, I love that movie! That tree still gives me the willies though..

Well, the Last Unicorn herself was 80s (as a movie) right? I suppose it's inevitable that will rub off- but so what! Your colors are lovely and the whole piece looks so alive!

Someday I feel like I should make an adjoining panel to his- "A Unicorn's Guide to Hunting RedBeards" so they can have their revenge. XD
